This was the second time coming to Bohanan's. This time was for my company's Holiday dinner and again I was impressed by the service and food. My drink for the night was their Margarita, which was good. I started out dinner with the Texas Heirloom Salad (apologizes for having no picture of this wonderful salad). For my main dish, I ordered the Salmon with a side of Potatoes Au Gratin. Everything was very delicious. The Salmon melted in my mouth and the Potatoes complimented it very well. For dessert, my wife and I shared their Creme Brulee, nice and light but very delicious. Our server was outstanding as there were 10 of us in our group and she made sure we were taken care. Yes, it is expensive, but if you want to go out on a special date (e.g. Anniversary) or your company is willing to pay for a dinner and doesn't care about the cost, then this is a great place.
Being from Houston, Texas I'm pretty particular about my state, but let me tell you what Bohanans in San Antonio was simply top-notch. What a great experience from top to bottom. First off the decor simply amazing. I love the decor here. I took one of my favorite shots with my iPhone 16 Pro Max. The customer service is top-notch. We had several waiters checking on us throughout the entire night. We never had to wait for anything because they were on point. The drinks were full and we had everything we needed at all times. Food: everything is simply amazing here. We started off with some appetizers. The grilled oysters were made to perfection. Also, the thick cut pieces of bacon are to die for. Wow that bacon is full of flavor and simply amazing. You can call it candied bacon if you will or like beef jerky or something amazing. The chicken tortilla soup is probably the best I've ever had. I could come here and eat that for lunch and be completely satisfied, but I don't think they only open for dinner but that chicken tortilla soup is such a great dish. Blown away by it I went with a fillet and it was grilled to perfect perfection. What a great cut of meat. Every single bite was flavorful. We tried each other Steaks to make sure we got to try all the different cuts. My fillet was great, but I have to admit, the New York strip was the best cut of meat. I tried. Wow talk about a perfect steak. Oh my God I would totally come back and get a New York strip every single time the ribeye was just as good. Full of flavor and grilled to perfection. The sides were amazing. The cream corn was top notch. The au gratin potatoes were simply amazing. The desserts were to die for. As you can see, we went with bread, pudding, and crème brûlée and they were just top-notch. Everything was great here. There was nothing that I would change. They knocked it out the park. If you want great service, great food, with a beautifully decorated restaurant. This is the place to come to. This will be my go to for nice steaks when I come to San Antonio . Easiest five star review. Staff did a phenomenal job tonight. Shout out to the cooks as well.
Bohanan's is a fancy steakhouse on Houston street in downtown San Antonio. Although I've been to Bohanan's plenty of times and the food is always impeccable, this time I went because one of my favorite jazz bands were playing there. I went with a friend to catch the Christmas vibes of Johnny P and the Wiseguys along with Bohanan's always fantastic cocktails. The live music really elevates the vibe in this place and creates a really humbling experience. The bartenders were ever-present, professional and attentive as always and I had a great time! If you're in the downtown area do yourself a favor and go to Bohanan's and indulge in their five-star steaks and delicious crafty cocktails.
Perfect spot for a pre-Majestic event, Kenny G. From the moment we went inside, we were swept away with the music and ambiance and the aroma of things to come. The candied jalapeños on cream cheese and bread are their specialty appetizer. From there, the rolls and specialty drinks arrived and then the table side cutting of our chateaubriands. We were in a quaint private upstairs room and the experience was all around perfection. Perfect for celebrating our 50th with a glass of champagne. We'll be back to enjoy this special steakhouse ...don't miss it.
What a lovely dinner! We were able to get in last minute for a business dinner after a glowing recommendation from the bartender at Hotel Valencia Riverwalk. The food was of course phenomenal, but the service is where this place really shines. Our server was incredible--knowledgeable, timely, and professional (but with a personality). Without a doubt, I'd recommend for a business dinner or a fancy date night. FYI - The crab cake was the table's favorite item!
Our first visit to Bohanan's Prime Steak and Seafood was unforgettable. We celebrated my husband's birthday in true style. This place is everything you'd hope for in a top-tier dining experience--every detail exudes elegance and charm. We started with the Escargot, which was perfectly prepared and set the tone for the rest of the meal. We ordered the ribeye and lobster tail for mains, accompanied by Jumbo Asparagus with Sauce Hollandaise. Every bite was exceptional, from the rich flavor of the custom-cut, prime-aged ribeye to the tender, sweet lobster. The asparagus added a perfect touch, and the Hollandaise sauce was the kind of indulgence you savor. The ambiance at Bohanan's truly transports you. It's an old-world setting with live jazz and a chic cocktail lounge that makes it feel like a special occasion all on its own. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and anticipated our needs, making the whole experience feel seamless and luxurious. If you're looking for a spot to celebrate or want to treat yourself to some of the finest food in downtown San Antonio, Bohanan's should be at the top of your list. It's an experience worth savoring.
What's very hard to do is keep on top, the best of the best, year after year. We first visited Bohanans about 12 years ago. They continue to be one if not the finest eating/drinking experiences in SATX. I don't mind paying "upwards" when the food, drinks and experience is amazing. If it's not your thing weekly - don't pass this experience up for a special occasion visit to Bohanans! Visitors, conferences, conventions, business in San Antonio. Check this location off.
Food: 5* Service; 5* Ambience: 4* Prices: 2* During a conference I had the opportunity to eat here. I had the petite filet, scallops, decadent chocolate cakes, and sweet jalapeño butter. The filet was perfect, tender, juicy, well seasoned and the perfect temperature. The scallops were juicy, ample, and tasty. I understand they fly them in every other day from Nova Scotia. Delirious. Ambience is old world steak house. It was nice but a little dated. You get what you pay for here. So, if you want to splurge, you won't be sorry.
31 Dec 2023 We were staying downtown for New Year's, so we decided to do dinner right. You can't go wrong with Bohannon's. Good steaks and seafood all around. Started with the escargot. This was the one dish that needed more flavor. The cream sauce was good, just a bit lacking. The bread served with it was great. I went for the wedge salad and the husband had the Caesar. Entrees were the 7 oz filet and the macadamia nut crusted fish. With a side of au gratin potatoes. All were so good, especially the potatoes. Our server Amaro, was stellar. Always there when needed. He would gently suggest the wagyu beef, dessert and drinks. Not a hard sell guy. Much appreciated. Go there.
